Füssen is a charming town in Bavaria, known for the Hohes Schloss and its Basilica and former Benedictine monastery of St Mang. The world famous Neuschwanstein Castle is situated a few kilometres to the east, and so Hohenschwangau, the childhood residence of King Ludwig II of Bavaria built by his father, King Maximilian II of Bavaria.
The Wieskirche, or Wies Church, is one of the most important places of pilgrimage in southern Germany, also one of the most famous works from the Rococo period, located only a ten-minute car ride from Fussen.
