Claude Monet lived for almost forty-three years, from 1883 to 1926, in his house in Giverny. Some of his most famous paintings, such as his water lily and Japanese bridge paintings, were of his garden in Giverny. Giverny sits on the “right Bank” of the River Seine, 80 km (50 miles) from Paris, in the département of Eure, in the région of Haute-Normandie.
