The borders of <strong>Graub\u00fcnden (Switzerland), Vorarlberg (<\/strong><strong>Austria) and Tyrol (<\/strong><strong>Austria)<\/strong> cross at the peak, hence its name (<em>Dreil\u00e4nderspitze<\/em> literally means <em>peak of three countries<\/em>). The majority of the peaks in the Silvretta (Piz Buin is the most popular peak of the range) are elevated above three thousand metres and are surrounded by glaciers. Thus, the area is also known as the Blue Silvretta. In the 1920s Ernest Hemingway was staying in the region for a winter.
