Bad Ischl is a charming little town on the banks of the Ischl, in the center of the Salzkammergut and a thermal station that had its glory period.
From 1849 to 1914, Bad Ischl was elevated to imperial summer residence of Emperor Franz Joseph and Empress Elisabeth.
It is in his imperial villa in Bad Ischl, July 28, 1914, the Emperor signed the declaration of war on Serbia, which quickly lead to the outbreak of the First World War.
The current owner of the Kaiservilla is their grand-son, Markus von Habsburg but the villa and the park are open to the public during the summer period.
